So we packed up all three dogs and headed up to Princeton for the weekend for the ACE AKC Trial. Both Panic and Toby where showing in FAST Saturday and Jumpers Sunday. We roomed and crated right next to Margaret, Charlie and Zephyr! It was so fun to see them.
Panic handled the whole situation very well. For the most part he did well in his crate; lots of barking but he did settle down. Ringside he was very excited, but just watched quietly instead of screaming his head off which was nice. His first run, FAST, went okay. It was a good first time in the ring for him. He held his startline stay (!!!) but did not hold his contacts. Overall he listened to me really well and didn't go blasting off into space at any point! NQ; we didn't get the send which was Weaves to a jump. He got the weaves no problem but I couldn't push him enough to the jump. Jumpers the next day went about the same. He listened really well but knocked one stinking bar. I can't tell why he knocked it. The need some work, he never seems to actually see them first time around (much faster to blast past them!)so we'll have to work on that. The other mistakes on course where all my fault. I didn't place my front cross in the right spot after that first jump and I didn't decelerate or move laterally at the end. I get so caught up in watching him and thinking "Wow that's my dog!" that I don't think about what I'm doing!

FAST did not get filmed because THREE adults could not figure out that the problem with the camera was that the lens cap was on it...Oh well.

Toby was crazy all weekend. He was a very happy boy and was definitly enjoying himself. This was a lot to ask from him. Being at a trial with both Zephyr and Panic is a huge step. My mother needs to work on her handling (not that I don't) since she seems to think she can never do front crosses and that rear is the only option! And we're also going to do some jumping work with Toby over the winter. He really needs it.

So obviously we all have a lot to work on this winter, but this was a great way to test the waters and see what needs to be worked on.
