Agility Run-Thrus
Jan. 3rd, 2009 08:55 pmToday our training center held an agility run-thru, something they always do starting the first Saturday of the year. Agility classes are on hiatus for the winter so needless to say we're a little rusty. Regardless, all three dogs went up there and had a blast, even Maxie, who by the way is feeling TONS better! Good girl!
Panic, as usual, was INSANE! He was such a good boy, though. Even stuck every single one of his contacts, something we had a major issue with in the past. Woohoo! He must be enjoying those contacts, because he had a tendency to get sucked into them instead of the tunnels today!
In true Panic style however, when one problem is resolved several more have to pop up. This time it is the tire and weave poles. The tire was something I thought we had worked through, but apparently not. He ran under it almost ever time. We'll be working on that for sure!
The second, and more unnerving problem in my opinion, was the weave poles!!! It seems we now have ten pole pop out syndrome, something we have never ever had a problem with before. He did not complete the weave poles once the entire time, and by the end of our time there wouldn't even do the first six without zoning out. It was obvious he was getting stressed by the whole ordeal, I just wish he could have at least been successful one time. :[ Not happy! He couldn't make the simplest of entries either. Humph.
Luckily I've ordered another six weave poles to add the our current set of six. I'm sure only seeing six at home and, thus far, in competition, hasn't helped his issue. I think I'll go back and do some remedial 2x2 work with him. And hopefully the problem with be resolved. Huh, I wonder what issue will come up next? We're still plowing through!
