Louisville Cluster Show
Mar. 22nd, 2009 10:01 amI really do love this show. As big and crazy as it is, it's a ton of fun. This is the first year I've actually shown my own dog, which is so truly amazing!
Panic was in Standard and JWW Friday-Sunday. Again, giant crazy show, and his first full trial. I was very happy with how he handled it, although we didn't qualify at all.
Here's the breakdown I wrote after the show:
Positives:
-Held every startline
-Stuck every dogwalk and Aframe contact
-Made weave pole entries at high speed in 2/6 runs
-Didn't nip at me before/during run (A nasty habit he had in for awhile)
-Didn't blast off into space at the slightest forward motion
-Didn't crash into me, as he's known to do!
-Didn't crash into the tire, as he's also known to do!
Negatives:
-Tunnel sucking!
-Teeter flyoffs in 2 of his standard runs
-Knocked at least one bar in all but one run
-Completely blew past the weave poles in several runs
-Bypassed jumps seemingly for no reason
-Went under the tire when it was mid-course
-Jumped off or went around the table in every standard run
Most of the negatives I just equate to not having enough experience, and I think they'll work themselves out. Things like a couple knocked bars, tunnel sucking and flying of the teeter. In the future, however, I think if he just blows past his weaves without even trying to make the entry, I'll take him off. Same thing with his startline, if he ever breaks it. I think if I give him even a little slack he will start walking all over me.
Next year at this show I'd like to try ISC. I love watching it every year and it looks like a ton of fun!
Toby also showed this weekend with my mother. They were in FAST and Standard on Friday. Total craziness in FAST, but he pulled himself together for standard and did great! Toby'll be a great agility dog once the two of them get more experience with each other! Here's the video of his runs:
