EOC Agility Trial July 3-5th
Jul. 5th, 2009 09:26 pmPanic exceeded my wildest expectations this past weekend. I expect mistakes at this point and, although we had some, he was very near perfect. I was very impressed, and so was everyone else! It was such a new experience for me to be complimented so heavily; having people ask where I train and how I trained his contacts or weaves or asking where I got him. I'll admit I got a certain satisfaction with the shocked expression I get after telling people he's a rescue. One person even recognized him from this livejournal--never knew people actually read this crap! (Hello out there if you're reading this ;)
All in all we got 2/6 Qs, (both on Saturday) and our NA title! One more for our NAJ, I can't wait to be out of Novice for good!!
The thing that shocked me the most was his contact performance. Absolutely flawless! His dogwalk is not super fast, but is definitely getting faster every show (thankfully I can still keep up! Not for long I bet...)
Speaking of speed, Panic had it in mass amounts. He ran both Friday and Saturday's jumpers runs in 16 freakin' seconds. DAMN.
His Open Standard debut Sunday went well! A few screw ups (namely an A-frame sucking issue!) but a good first time for us. His jumpers however was less than impressive, he was very amped up and I think the long weekend away finally caught up to us. Novice JWW is the last class of the day, and at a one ring trial it meant we had to stay until nearly 6. We were both tired and I just wanted to go home! He had three refusals, an off course and a knocked bar. Not our best run by any means, but very Panic-like!
All in all I was extremely happy with how things turned out. Almost all my runs were filmed by one person or another this weekend (since my camcorder died a slow and painful death) so I should get videos soon.
While I was there I got to chatting with the photographer Patrick Cagney (http://patcagney.com) who was set up right by our crating area. He told me he'd be shooting at a NADAC Fund-raiser trial near me this weekend, and if I wanted to come out he'd let me shoot for him for awhile! What an opportunity! I'm excited, it should be fun!
