Muddling through turns
Aug. 20th, 2009 07:04 pmYesterday I miraculously got my homework done while it was still light out so I got to train a little with Panic. We worked on turns off the dogwalk. Here's the full training session that I stretched out across an hour or two.
I'm still just trying to figure out how to give him the information he needs, but I think I'm getting there. I thought a verbal would *probably* (duh) be helpful, but seeing as I very rarely use verbals for any agility skill I often forget that. So I worked on giving him a verbal turn cue plus motion cues. He did pretty well, although honestly it was tough to see what he was doing from so far back. He's also figuring out how to handle turns and I am very happy with him! I still kept a bar at the end of the dogwalk to encourage him to go to the end and not bail early.
Running contacts are incredibly frustrating, but I'm way too stubborn to ever consider switching back to a 2o/2o.
