I feel the need to blog about every trial I go to even if I don't have too much to say. We did team for the first time at this show. Needless to say we didn't qualify, but it was a ton of fun, especially the relay. Most of Panic's team runs were very very crazy (actually most of Panic's runs throughout the weekend were very crazy!) but aside from feeling bad for my team (ha!) I wasn't too unhappy with that. At our last show Panic seemed a little...off, and while having him blast into the future and make silly mistakes is not particularly what I want, it was nice to have my crazy, on-the-edge-of-control Panic back. Team Standard is the only team run I have on film, and it was actually probably the nicest one, aside from a missed dogwalk contact!!!!!

That brings me to my biggest concern for the weekend; Panic's dogwalk performance. Awful. Awful. Every single dogwalk he did was absolutely horrible, and he probably did about five of them!! None of them were anywhere near my criteria. I was terribly disappointed, but there wasn't much I could do about it at a show. I understand a missed dogwalk here or there, but in Panic's running contact career he's only missed two dogwalks in competition before this weekend. I don't really understand why it happened, but I think it may have something to do with last weekend, where the contacts were rubberized and he was very hesitant on them.

I'm not really sure what to do about it. I worked on his dogwalk a bit today and yesterday, and it remained awful. If I tighten up my criteria he slows down ridiculously. But if I focus on speed and am a little more lax, obviously he's going to start missing them even more. We aren't trialing at all in May, guess what we will be working on?

Panic did not Q in the tournament classes but had two really nice runs. Sadly this means no SE Regionals for us, darn! Looks like we are doing AKC that weekend instead.

Steeplechase was very nice, I can't tell if the weird offcourse was my fault or his, but I think it's a little bit of both. Grand Prix was nice too and he was really moving, but he missed his stupid weave entry again just like last time in Grand Prix! (And SERIOUSLY?! it was the only entry he missed all weekend!). He also did not read the turn to the a-frame at all, like he was blasting off into nowhere on that one. Silly giant strided boy.

His best runs were his Starters Jumpers runs, he was actually focusing really nicely and was a very good boy.

Overall I did have a TON of fun, I really liked the trial site and we stayed on site in Erin Tower's RV which was a blast! Panic and I still have quite a way to go, but we'll get there eventually.
