Nationals Day One
Oct. 12th, 2010 08:17 pmOne word to sum it all up: FUN! Man is this fun, and the fun part really hasn't started yet.
Panic and I headed out to the show site at around 9:30 to be a part of a local news story on the event. They did interviews while people and their dogs ran sequences behind them. A really awesome opportunity to get in some time on the equipment before the competition (which some people found unfair, but in reality ANYONE could have come out and ran). After a while of being out there however, they told me that they wanted to interview me and a minute later I was in front of the camera on live TV! Yikes! Definitely not prepared for that.
The woman asked me questions like "Do you win a lot?" and "Can your dog do those poles?" etc...it's hard to answer questions about agility when the person asking doesn't know anything about it! Most of the time they got a nice butt shot of Panic as he was turned around watching the dogs run right behind him. Overall though it was fun and a nice opportunity. After that I went home for a few hours and came back around 2 for check in.
We didn't end up running European Standard until around 7, so it was still a really long day. Panic did pretty good. He knocked a bar and his dogwalk was called but he was listening really well and we didn't have any refusals are off courses which was great. I can't wait to see how he does later in the week.
Three rings in Broadbent Arena:

Other two rings in the West Hall: (this is where we ran today)

European Standard walk through--look at that beautiful dirt!:

We aren't competing tomorrow so we'll do a lot of relaxing for sure!
