#tbt

I think that may be the first time I ever used a hashtag.

I've probably posted this before, but every time I come across this video it makes me smile and laugh and cringe all at the same time.

Oh goodness, 15 year-old me and fluffy two-year old Panic. Adorable.

This is the video I made for Panic when he was technically our foster dog for MidAmerica Border Collie Rescue. Panic was our foster for about four months before we officially adopted him. I always knew he was "mine", but we really had to work hard to integrate him and Toby.

Time is a funny thing. This was seriously six years ago?!

I didn't know you were involved with Mid-America BC rescue! The rescue group I work with (Great lakes BC rescue) has a lot of overlapping intake territory, so we work together quite a bit.

You and Panic were adorable. I'm sure you still are ;-)

Aww thanks. :)
Yes, we fostered for them for awhile. Then, as often happens in rescue, a lot of ridiculous drama was churned up while we were fostering Panic so we decided not to stay involved with them. I would love to foster more in the future.

Ah, yes, pretty much every rescue has gone through at least one ridiculous drama phase. It's not a pretty thing. Fostering has been really good for me, though, working with so many different dogs with different issues (all BC's though, I don't even pretend to know how the all-breed rescue groups manage).

Yes, drama happens everywhere that's for sure, but this drama happened to be centered around the fact that I named this dog "Panic"...seriously. The phrase "ruining the breed" was uttered....seriously. Panic was actually the 40th dog we ever fostered, before we had worked with Golden Retriever Rescue. Like you said it was definitely a wonderful experience to work with so many dogs!

Oh Baby Panic!!! Such a baby but still so Panic! That was great and you had taught him all those tricks in four months? Holy crap. And Baby aardogs ! This is all very sweet

It felt WAY longer than four months, but I got him right at the beginning of my summer break and literally spent all day, every day with him for the entire summer. Very long days, some of them.

Great video. I'm sure had you not decided to keep him that video alone would have had them knocking down your doors. He's GREAT!

He is great!! When we fostered for them, you had to have dogs for a least a month before they went up for adoption, and we decided not to actually have him available for adoption until around four months after we had him. Tons of pictures and videos of him were on their website, but you couldn't apply for him yet. The day he was available we got about 7 applications, all for awesome sounding performance homes but I had to say sorry he's mine! ;)

What I'm blown away by is what an amazing trainer you were at 15!!!! REally awesome and yeah, he is adorable. But so are you, so cute and a great trainer. wowza.

Thank you!! I do owe a lot of that to Panic, as well as the couple of foster dogs before him. He was quite a challenging dog and I often found myself crying in frustration over trying to get him to do anything. I'm very happy that my response to that challenge was to learn more and try harder. It helped that I had an entire summer filled with absolutely nothing to work with him every day.

Awww…. that's really sweet. I'm glad you have that to remember when.

Truly adorable! I love going back and looking at old videos.
