More and more lately I have been seeing Mature Agility Dog Panic come out. He is starting to figure out the game and, as if I don't already love running him, is becoming even more fun to run! He is really just a blast!

I really saw this at class this week. Although in reality his performance (in some aspects) was worse then in previous weeks, there were a couple of key differences. One, he was very very "high". I had to work all day, and he pretty much went straight from his crate to class wheras I normally wear him out before hand. He was just a big bundle of energy waiting to explode. Yet he actually kept his head on straight and managed to listen really well, even did some beautiful collection without me having to really work at it. The other plus was that I finally remembered the advice I keep giving myself, RUN! I was really gunning it at some points, another thing that typically makes Panic lose his mind, but he kept that sucker of a brain right in his little head. It didn't feel like I was right on the edge of control (like it has in the past) and although he was really moving I still felt like I was in the drivers seat. The mistakes we make now are all either just green dog stuff or handler errors, and there is nothing major we need to work on (aside from the dogwalk). I think the biggest thing now is that we just need more experience.

We still have a long way to go, but we are making steady progress! No shows until the beginning of September, and it's a three day local trial to boot. I think we'll kick some butt there, and hopefully get out of Novice once and for all!
