What I've Learned from Harry Potter

I am reading the Harry Potter books for the first time. That has initiated a lot of gasps from people, maybe someone reading this will think "Oh my goodness, really?! What is wrong with her that she is only just reading them?"  I have always wanted to avoid them. I don't know why, I just had this idea in my head that I never wanted to read the books. But I am enjoying them, a lot. I'm glad I waited this long though; I can't imagine having to wait for a new book to come out.

Anyway, I am on the sixth book. Today it had some great life advise; destination, determination, and deliberation. To paraphrase,  Step one: Fix your mind firmly upon the desired destination. Step two: focus your determination on reaching your destination. Step three: move with deliberation. Yeah sure, it was talking about "apparation",  but it is still a good lesson to think of in terms of goal setting. I will definitely be keeping the three "D's" in mind in the future. Great advice.

They are enjoyable books, but I know what you mean about wanting to avoid them. I get like that about anything that seems too popular.

Never read any of the books, seen all the movies, except the last one. I just don't seem to get out to movies these days.
