Operation Actually Improve

I do like winter, but after awhile the cold really starts to get to me. That would be this month. Fortunately the weather this week has been freakishly nice, renewing my spirit and my motivation. Today is beautiful.

And a nice blue ball that had "Allison" written on it. Oh, sorry about your ball Allison. On the bright side it's a lot easier to put in your mouth when it is deflated.

Inspired by the awesome weather, my idiocy as a trainer and handler lately (I mean, come one what is this crap? www.youtube.com/watch ), and [livejournal.com profile] brisbeethewhite's operation with Haku, I am instituting Operation Actually Improve at Agility. That means, shocker, actually practicing agility instead of expecting long walks in the woods to translate to agility skills, actually trying to improve my fitness level by running four times a week, and generally just making a conscious effort to improve my skills and Panic's.

I'm not really sure how we can improve as a team, but I know we CAN--we are obviously not at the height of our game--and if I just keep fine tuning our skills and trying to move forward I think I will see a lot of improvement. So far I'm doing well with all of this--actually having a plan and putting it into action feels good and I feel better already.

Mostly though I'm doing this because the next run we'll have in competition will be ISC mid March, and well I don't really want to go out there and look like an idiot. ;)

You had some nice runs in Indy. Meant to tell you - you hair cut is really nice. Totally off the wall but I am a mom to teen daughter ;-).

Thanks! This is the shortest I've ever had my hair and I kind of don't know what to do with it, but I love it.
You had some nice runs too, I saw Stuff do some great weaving out there!

You mean....this can't happen? Nooooooooooooo, my training plan is ruined then!

Yeah I know, that WAS my training plan. Not working out too well though. Turns out you might actually have to do some agility to improve at agility.

I trained today, first time in 5 months. I totally sucked. All I do is hike with my dogs, I feel your pain.

You and me, we're going to practice!

Having it written down that I AM going to train is good--its harder to slack off now without feeling bad about it! It feels good to go out there with an actual training plan and feel like I'm making some progress.

Girl I feel ya. It's amazing what a few training sessions can do!

I'm definitely looking forward to making some progress!
